Our Journey

Country Women’s Association of India was started in 1972 by Late Aroti Dutt who was the President of Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW) and Vice President of International Alliance of Women (IAW). She was also the President of Saroj Nalini Dutt Memorial Association and devoted her life for the welfare of the downtrodden women and children of the society.

Late Aroti Dutt travelled throughout the country from East to West, from North to South to propagate the aims and objectives of CWAI. Today her untiring efforts have reaped a “golden harvest” as CWAI units and affiliated regional societies have opened up all over India.

CWAI is committed to improve the lives of the underprivileged urban, rural, tribal women and children of India. It dreams in the making of a society where every individual will live with dignity and security.

CWAI has dedicated life members coming from different parts of India. Their voluntary services for the up-liftment of women and children have brought about a qualitative and quantitative change amongst those with whom they work. There are affiliated member societies in different states through which CWAI endeavors to achieve its aims.
